Looking for an Equine Surgeon for the Waikato region in New Zealand
Cambridge Equine Hospital is looking for a well-rounded equine surgeon to join our team. As a part of the Altano New Zealand Group with Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre, the wider team includes two board-certified surgeons, a Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist, and 20 veterinarians across two clinics in close proximity to one another. The ideal candidate would have at least 5 years of experience in equine surgery, be board-certified, and have an additional interest and experience in lameness, poor performance, prepurchase examinations, racetrack practice, and general equine ambulatory work.
Cambridge Equine Hospital and Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre are situated in the heart of the Waikato and offer both first opinion and referral services. Our large client base predominantly comprises thoroughbred studs, breakers, agistment farms and trainers, but we also care for a growing number of standard, sport and pleasure horses. Both clinics have full surgical suites and full hospital set up for ICU and isolation patients, day patients, and lameness examinations. Our state-of-the-art equipment includes laparoscopy, arthroscopy, diode laser, in-house laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasound, nuclear scintigraphy, shockwave, portable and over-ground video-endoscopy, gastroscopy, lameness locator, Televet ECG, and equipment for exodontia and endodontics, as well as motorised dental equipment.
The successful appointee will be an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills and a focus on delivering the highest standard of practice. We have a great team of veterinarians, who enjoy working collaboratively. Although based predominantly at Cambridge Equine Hospital, the surgical caseload would be shared between all three surgeons, including emergencies and after-hours.
As a part of Altano, we are leading the way in equine veterinary care, and that starts with our employees. Benefits include a practice vehicle, mobile phone, health insurance, employer Kiwisaver contributions in addition to salary, professional body membership and licensing dues, professional liability insurance, paid continuing education, mental health and well-being services through Moka Care. There is a worldwide network of colleagues and specialists with whom you can collaborate through exchange groups, virtual and in-person continuing education events, and VetPD courses. The remuneration package will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications and will be discussed further upon application.
Applications/enquiries in confidence to Dr Alanna Zantingh at alannaz@ceh.co.nz. Applicants should provide a cover letter, CV, and three references with their contact details.
